Amorphophallus bulbifer (Green Viper) I have grown over the years many clones of Amorphophallus bulbifer. It seems several forms can look distinctly different as far as size and petiole coloring and patterns. The flowers can also be slightly different in color and sometimes dramatically different in smell. This clone that we call Amorphophallus bulbifer (Green Viper) has light green petioles with light blotches of dark green. The plants can grow very larger 6 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide. The foliage is held a bit more upright than other bulbifer clones we have grown and once mature will often not have leaflets near center of the crown. A beautifully distinctive form with a great growth habit.

Dormancy: This plant like many others has a dormancy cycle and plants maybe dormant depending on when they are ordered and shipped. If ordered in early spring or late fall you may have what looks like a pot of soil with no plant. In the soil is a tuber or bulb with a sleeping plant that will awake in spring. A dormant plant will often become discolored and fall over in the fall months. This can often concern people who are not familiar with the plant. In most cases this is the plants natural dormancy cycle.
